In April of 1996, Jeffrey Diver assumed the responsibilities of SELF's first Executive Director. Throughout his career, Jeffrey has actively served on numerous committees and boards, many of which focused on meeting human needs. In the last five years, his service has included the Butler County Private Industry Council, Butler County Human Services Planning Committee, City of Hamilton Human Relations Commission and Butler County Head Start Policy Council. Jeffrey now applies his considerable energies as a member of the boards of directors of the Middletown Social Services and Health Center, the Butler County Community Health Consortium, the Vibrant Neighborhoods and Communities Vision Council of the Greater Cincinnati United Way and the Butler County Family and Children First Council.

From 1989 to 1996, Jeffrey served as Field Director of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, a program of Children's National Medical Center based in Washington, D.C. A grassroots effort dedicated to preventing childhood injuries, former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, M.D., chaired the Campaign. Jeffrey was responsible for building and sustaining more than 200 local and state SAFE KIDS coalitions, representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Much of the work of these coalitions is directed toward reaching and empowering diverse, low-income populations that are at greatest risk. He also conducted leadership training for coalition volunteers.

Jeffrey has worked for the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, in Washington D.C. and has run a statewide nonprofit in Indiana.
