Free Tax Preparation 

SELF’s Free Tax Preparation Site opens January 30. As a partner of the Butler County Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, SELF can help you claim your Earned Income Tax Credit, prepare your return and e-file it for free. 

Clients for Free Tax Preparation are seen by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call (513) 868-9300 and press option 3.
 
All appointments are held at our partner agency, The Butler County United Way, 323 N. Third St., Hamilton, Ohio.

What to Bring 

• Valid picture I.D. (i.e. driver's license or state-issued I.D. card)
• Social Security cards for everyone in the household and any others shown on the tax return
• Copies of ALL W-2s, 1098s, 1099s, Social Security Statement, and the amount of other income received by you and your spouse, if applicable
• Form 8332 for non-custodial parent claiming child
• Child/Dependent Care provider’s tax number, if applicable
• Student loan interest/college tuition expenses paid
• For direct deposit, bring a voided check that shows both the bank account number and routing transit number
• Additional documents to claim possible tax credits, such as the first-time homebuyer credit, and payment of any credits (i.e. Form 5405)
• A copy of your previous year's tax return is helpful but not required
